In a groundbreaking development for India’s green energy sector, the nation’s first multi-distribution compressed biogas (CBG) plant has officially commenced commercial gas offtake and grid injection in Kaithal, Haryana.
Developed by Demeter Agro Energies with CEID Consultants & Engineering as the EPC partner, and supported by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the 10 TPD plant aims to supply biogas through a flexible network including MDPE pipelines, stainless steel (SS) pipelines, and cylinder cascades. This multi-distribution approach ensures the delivery of CBG to both urban and rural consumers.
The inauguration saw key participation from IGL leaders including Sh. Kamal Kishore Chatiwal, Sh. Mohit Bhatia, and Sh. Sanjeev Kumar Bhatia, who visited the plant in Village Balwanti.
Currently supplying 4 TPD, the plant targets a full production of 10 tonnes per day of CBG and 25,000 cubic meters/day of biogas, while also generating 50 TPD of fermented organic manure (FOM) — a vital bio-fertilizer for sustainable farming.
CEID CEO Prince Gandhi highlighted the plant as a model for integrated clean energy, while CTO Rajaram Prajapati emphasized the facility’s safety, gas purity (97.54%), and pipeline integration systems designed to exceed 99% purity.
The plant supports the Swachh Bharat mission and India’s climate goals, creating a replicable model for future CBG infrastructure.
