Billion and realme TechLife partner with CloudTV’s thunderOS for Smart TVs

Billion and realme TechLife have partnered with CloudTV to introduce the company’s new CTS-certified Smart TV operating system, thunderOS, on their Smart TV models. The rollout begins September 9, with the TVs available for purchase on Flipkart.

CloudTV said Billion and realme TechLife are the first Smart TV brands to adopt thunderOS. The operating system is designed to bring OTT applications, live television, gaming, voice-based navigation and content discovery into a single platform.

According to CloudTV, thunderOS supports more than 350 live channels, over 130 OTT and other applications, more than 45 gaming apps and browsing capabilities. It also supports DVB-S satellite connectivity and access to more than 800 free-to-air channels.

The operating system includes Bolt, CloudTV’s AI-powered voice assistant, which allows users to search and navigate content using voice commands. The assistant can also respond to general trivia-related queries.

Other features include SmartAudio, which adjusts sound based on the content genre, personalised recommendations based on viewing activity and Continue Watching for resuming programmes from the home screen.

thunderOS also offers Unified Content Search, allowing users to search across multiple OTT platforms through one interface. Kids Mode provides access to curated children’s content, while PC Mode enables the television to be used as a larger display for activities such as browsing, editing and creating content.

Abhijeet Rajpurohit, Co-founder and COO, CloudTV, said the company developed thunderOS to address the requirements of Indian consumers and Smart TV manufacturers, with features spanning content discovery, voice navigation, OTT, gaming and AI-based information access.

CloudTV said its operating system currently powers more than 8 million devices and reaches over 16 million viewers in India. The company also stated that its ecosystem includes more than 250 Smart TV brands, 150-plus app partners and over 25 manufacturing partners.

The partnership with Billion and realme TechLife comes ahead of the festive season, when demand for consumer electronics and Smart TVs typically receives increased attention.
