Divine Detour That Changes My Life’, a spiritual memoir by Dr. Vishal Chaturvedi and published by Truth and Social Publication, has inspired the recently released film ‘Hanuman Ansh’, according to the publisher.
The book traces Chaturvedi’s spiritual journey following an unexpected visit to Kainchi Dham in 2006. According to the account, a journey towards Nainital took an unexpected turn when his car stopped near a temple, which he later identified as Kainchi Dham, the ashram associated with Neem Karoli Baba.
The experience became a significant part of Chaturvedi’s personal journey and his growing connection with Hanuman bhakti, chanting and seva. Over the years, he went on to build a community of more than 12,000 Hanuman devotees through Hanuman Chalisa recitation and devotional practices.
‘Divine Detour’ explores Chaturvedi’s experiences and reflections on Neem Karoli Baba’s teachings and influence. The book is not positioned as a conventional biography of the spiritual teacher, but as the author’s personal account of devotion, mysticism, seva and spiritual transformation.
The book also looks at the wider influence of Neem Karoli Baba and the experiences of Western spiritual seekers, including Ram Dass and Krishna Das, in the context of Indian spirituality.
The themes explored in the memoir subsequently became the basis for ‘Hanuman Ansh’, bringing elements of Hanuman devotion, faith, courage, surrender and spiritual guidance into a cinematic narrative. The connection between the book and the film also highlights the movement of a personal spiritual account from literature to mainstream cinema.
