New Zealand Concludes ‘Kia Ora India’ Outreach Across Four Cities, Engages 500+ Students

New Zealand said it has concluded the first phase of its multi-city outreach programme ‘Kia Ora India’, engaging over 500 students, parents, educators and counsellors across New Delhi, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Pune.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening education ties with India by connecting prospective students with New Zealand’s higher education ecosystem. The programme highlighted student-centric and future-focused learning models, with emphasis on practical education, global exposure and student wellbeing.

The series featured interactions with representatives from leading New Zealand institutions, alongside expert-led sessions on future-ready skills and international study pathways.

Participants included all eight New Zealand universities, which are ranked among the top 2% globally, as well as government-funded Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics (ITPs) and private training establishments. Institutions represented included the University of Auckland, University of Waikato, Victoria University of Wellington, Massey University, University of Otago, and University of Canterbury, among others.

Jugnu Roy, Director of Engagement, East Asia and India at Education New Zealand, said the initiative aims to help students make informed decisions by providing direct access to institutions and relevant information on global education trends.

India remains a key market for New Zealand’s international education sector, with increasing interest from students seeking globally relevant academic opportunities. Officials said New Zealand’s positioning around safety, stability and student wellbeing continues to support its appeal among Indian students.
