The University of Leeds is now accepting applications for its MSc in Air Quality Solutions with Data Science, a cutting-edge programme designed to equip students with the technical and analytical skills needed to address global air pollution challenges using data-driven methods.
Starting in September 2025, this 12-month full-time course takes a systems-based, multidisciplinary approach, integrating air quality science with advanced data analytics. Students will gain practical experience in areas such as emissions monitoring, pollution modelling, indoor air quality, health impacts, and environmental policy. Teaching will be supported by five renowned schools at the University: the Institute for Transport Studies, the School of Earth and Environment, the School of Civil Engineering, the School of Chemical and Process Engineering, and the School of Chemistry.
The curriculum includes hands-on fieldwork, visits to monitoring sites, and opportunities to engage with professionals through initiatives like the Air Quality Living Lab. A key feature of the programme is the Global Industry Programme, which guarantees industry experience through consultancy projects with UK or international organisations. Students may also apply for paid placements during their course.
Graduates will be well-prepared for roles in consultancy, government agencies, NGOs, industry, or further academic research. The programme was developed in collaboration with industry partners and is supported by employers who regularly visit the campus to connect with students.
