The MET Institute of PGDM, Mumbai, has received MBA equivalence from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) for its two-year full-time PGDM programme. The recognition gives graduates the same academic status as MBA degree holders from Indian universities.
With this equivalence, students completing the PGDM programme will be eligible to apply for doctoral programmes in India and abroad. They can also pursue opportunities in government organisations, public sector undertakings (PSUs), regulatory bodies, and other positions where an MBA or equivalent qualification is required.
According to the institute, the recognition addresses the long-standing difference between industry-focused PGDM programmes and university-awarded MBA degrees by providing formal academic equivalence.
Commenting on the development, MET Trustee Pankaj Bhujbal said the recognition will help students pursue diverse career paths, including corporate leadership, entrepreneurship, research, public policy and higher education, while ensuring wider academic acceptance of their qualification.
The institute’s two-year PGDM programme is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), recognised by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), and now holds AIU MBA equivalence. The programme also includes academic collaboration with KPMG and offers internships, live industry projects, corporate interactions and experiential learning.
MET said the programme has recorded strong placement performance, with the highest package reaching ₹20 lakh per annum. The institute added that the AIU recognition further strengthens the programme by combining industry-oriented learning with broader academic and career opportunities for graduates.
