NIU Hosts Lakshya 2024: A Triumph of Sportsmanship and Talent

Noida International University (NIU) played host to an electrifying display of athletic prowess as it organized Lakshya 2024, a dynamic inter-university sports event that captivated audiences from across Delhi NCR. With over 34 universities in attendance, the event unfolded from February 22nd to 24th, 2024, showcasing the sporting excellence and camaraderie of thousands of students.

NIU emerged as the frontrunner, clinching the highest number of medals in 8 games, closely followed by Amity University with medals in 7 games. The event witnessed the presence of esteemed personalities including Varun Bhati, an Arjuna awardee and Olympic para high jumper, and Miss Babita Nagar, a gold medalist wrestler, among others.

Mr. Himanshu Singh, the Promoter of Noida International University, commended the organizers for orchestrating a grand event aimed at fostering student unity and promoting healthy competition. Prof. (Dr.) Uma Bhardwaj, Vice-Chancellor of NIU, lauded the event as a celebration of sports, unity, and talent, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills.

The competition spanned over three days, featuring a diverse range of sports including track and field, team sports, individual competitions, and traditional games. The fervor of the participants, coupled with their remarkable skill and sportsmanship, left spectators spellbound and enthralled.

Notable victories were achieved by various universities, with NIU leading the tally in ten matches, followed by other universities securing medals in multiple games. Lt. Pratima Pandey, Director of Sports at Noida International University, expressed gratitude to all participating universities, coaches, volunteers, and attendees for their contributions to the event’s success.
