The University of Leeds has opened applications for its one-year MSc Biotechnology with Business Enterprise programme, which will begin in September 2026. The course is designed to combine biotechnology education with business and entrepreneurship skills to prepare graduates for careers in the life sciences sector.
The full-time, 12-month programme is offered jointly by the university’s Faculty of Biological Sciences and Leeds University Business School. It aims to equip students with laboratory expertise alongside knowledge of areas such as intellectual property, innovation and business development.
Applicants must hold a first-class or equivalent undergraduate degree in a relevant subject from a recognised Indian university. Students are also required to meet the English language criteria, including Standard XII English scores as specified by the university or an IELTS overall score of 6.5 with no component below 6.0.
The application deadline is July 31, 2026, and the tuition fee is £33,500. Indian students are eligible for an International Masters Regional Scholarship worth £6,000.
As part of the programme, students can participate in the university’s two-week virtual Global Industry Programme, which offers consultancy-based industry experience and opportunities to develop professional skills and industry connections.
According to the university, graduates of the programme can pursue careers in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare technology, bioinformatics, regulatory affairs, consultancy, intellectual property, life sciences communication and biotechnology start-ups.
The University of Leeds said the programme is intended to help students develop both scientific expertise and commercial understanding to support innovation in the biotechnology sector.
