Exclusive | Rajeev Sood, President, Rotary Club of Faridabad One: “We’re here to touch lives that are often overlooked”

Rajeev Sood, President of Rotary Club of Faridabad One

In a city with no shortage of service clubs, the newly launched Rotary Club of Faridabad One (RCF One) is quietly setting a new benchmark for what Rotary can mean in modern India. At the helm is Rajeev Sood, an IT professional and passionate community leader whose commitment to purposeful service is steering the club with a fresh, inclusive vision.

A Rotarian since 2019, Rajeev previously served as Secretary, earning the Elite Secretary Award in Rotary District 3011 for his exceptional contribution. As he takes charge as the club’s first President, India News 24 spoke with him about his mission, values, and the impact he hopes to build.

Q1. Congratulations on being appointed the first President of Rotary Club of Faridabad One. What inspired you to take up this role?

Rajeev Sood:
Thank you. It’s truly an honour to lead a club that is committed to change—not just in projects but in thought. Rotary has always stood for service, but over time, some clubs tend to fall into routine. This new club is an opportunity to rewrite that script, with fresh ideas, inclusive energy, and work that genuinely impacts lives. I felt this was the right time and platform to serve meaningfully.

Q2. How does Rotary Club of Faridabad One differentiate itself?

Rajeev Sood:
We’re not trying to be different for the sake of it—we’re trying to be relevant. RCF One is built on the belief that even small actions, if done with sincerity, can create large ripples. Our club has a unique mix of youth and experience, and we focus on creating space for ideas that respond to real-world needs. We are not bound by traditional approaches—we welcome innovation, community voices, and hands-on service.

Q3. Tell us about your background and how it shapes your leadership style.

Rajeev Sood:
I work in the IT sector with a leading multinational, which keeps me grounded in systems thinking, problem-solving, and digital agility. I was born and raised in Faridabad’s Sector 30, and my family roots trace back to Palampur in Himachal Pradesh. I live with my parents, wife, and two kids—and those family values of empathy and humility shape everything I do. I believe in listening more, empowering others, and staying purpose-driven.

Q4. We hear you have a personal connect with a school in Palampur?

Rajeev Sood:
Yes, there’s a school in Bhagotla village near Palampur that’s very close to my heart. It serves children from underprivileged families, and I try to support them with what I can—books, uniforms, shoes, stationery. It’s a quiet little initiative, but deeply meaningful. Every time I visit, I return with a renewed sense of purpose. For me, it’s a way of staying rooted and giving back to where it all began.

Q5. What are your priority projects for RCF One this year?

Rajeev Sood:
Our focus this year is to make Rotary truly meaningful at the grassroots level. At RCF One, we are committed to reaching out to those who often remain unheard—women, children, and senior citizens, especially from underprivileged backgrounds. Whether it is creating access to opportunities, enhancing dignity, or supporting daily needs, we want to be where support truly matters.

One of our key priority areas is healthcare, with a dedicated emphasis on cervical cancer awareness and preventive health for women. We strongly believe that no initiative is too small when it comes to making a difference in someone’s life. Our goal is not to chase numbers but to create change that is visible, personal, and lasting.

Q6. How do you see Rotary adapting to modern India?

Rajeev Sood:
Rotary has a rich legacy, but it must continue evolving with the times. Today’s generation wants purpose with flexibility—they want action without unnecessary layers. Clubs that embrace open thinking, digital engagement, and real-time responsiveness will thrive. Rotary should reflect modern India—young, bold, inclusive, and deeply committed to community.

Q7. What would you say to young professionals or potential new members?

Rajeev Sood:
If you’ve ever felt the urge to give back but didn’t know where to start—Rotary is your platform. You don’t need to be a social worker, you just need to care. Whether you can give your time, ideas, or energy—every bit counts.

To young professionals, I say this: Rotary isn’t about long meetings or rigid formats anymore. It’s about action, collaboration, and relevance. At RCF One, we value fresh thinking, purpose-driven work, and hands-on involvement.

Join us not because it looks good on a resume, but because it feels good in the heart. In a world that often overwhelms us with problems, we can still choose to be part of the solution—one meaningful act at a time.

Q8. Finally, what is the one core belief you will carry into your presidency?

Rajeev Sood:
That “every effort matters.” Whether it’s a notebook to a child, a health camp for women, or a small act of kindness for a senior citizen—every small step is a big beginning. As I lead RCF One, this belief will guide every project, every conversation, and every action we take.
