The Election Commission of India (ECI) has asked AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal to submit evidence supporting his claim that the BJP-led Haryana government poisoned the Yamuna water supply to Delhi. He has been given a deadline of 8 PM today to provide proof.
The controversy began after Kejriwal alleged that contaminated water from Haryana could have caused a mass disaster if the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) had not stopped it at the border. His statement led the BJP and Congress to file a formal complaint with the Election Commission.
The poll panel reviewed the DJB report, which did not mention any poisoning of the Yamuna. The notice to Kejriwal emphasized that serious allegations must be backed by facts and requested proof of his claims.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused Kejriwal of spreading falsehoods and misleading Delhi residents. He challenged him to release the DJB report and clarify the basis of his accusations.
With political tensions rising, all eyes are on Kejriwal’s response and the Election Commission’s next move.
