In the run-up to the Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February 5, BJP’s New Delhi candidate, Parvesh Verma, has filed a complaint against Arvind Kejriwal, leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The complaint, addressed to the police and election officials, alleges that Kejriwal breached the model code of conduct by distributing chairs to Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) in the constituency.
Sandeep Singh, Verma’s election agent, lodged the complaint on Sunday, presenting a video as evidence. The video reportedly shows an individual transporting chairs in a trolley, claiming they were sent by Kejriwal. The complaint describes this as “a clear offense under the BNS and Prevention of Corruption Act as well as a violation of the Model Code of Conduct, as Kejriwal openly attempted to influence voters.”
In retaliation, AAP and Kejriwal have filed several complaints against Verma, alleging that he distributed money, sarees, shoes, and other items to voters in the New Delhi constituency.
As the election date approaches, these accusations have intensified the already heated campaign atmosphere. Both parties continue to trade allegations, with the Election Commission yet to issue an official response.
