AI-driven engineering talent platform Cognavi has facilitated international placements for 13 engineering students from Indian institutes, with an average compensation of ₹42.15 lakh per annum, signalling the growing adoption of artificial intelligence in global hiring.
The highest offer stood at ₹56.27 lakh for a data scientist (data engineering) role, while two students from Indian Institutes of Technology secured pre-placement offers of ₹46.78 lakh in technical and product development roles, the company said.
According to Cognavi, the placements were enabled through its proprietary AI-based “Skill Tree” technology, which maps candidates’ technical competencies directly to job requirements, reducing dependence on traditional résumé screening.
The selected candidates have been placed in roles across data science, system engineering, electrical development, application engineering, product development and design engineering, it added.
A majority of the students—11 out of 13—were from engineering colleges ranked among the top 100 in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), while the remaining two were from IITs.
The company did not disclose the names of hiring organisations due to confidentiality agreements but said the roles are with global firms across technology, electronics and manufacturing sectors.
Industry observers note that AI-led recruitment models are increasingly being adopted by multinational firms seeking specialised engineering talent from India, particularly in areas such as data engineering, advanced electronics and systems development.
“The biggest inefficiency in global hiring today is not the lack of talent—it’s the inability to identify it correctly. Traditional recruitment filters out capability before it even gets seen. AI flips that equation. We’re not just improving hiring—we’re questioning the very logic it has operated on for decades,” said Mohit Sareen, Board Director, Cognavi India Limited.
“Traditional campus hiring often focuses on degrees and academic scores, whereas AI-driven skill mapping allows companies to identify candidates based on their actual technical capabilities,” the company added.
Founded to connect engineering talent with global employers, Cognavi works with IITs and other leading institutions to facilitate cross-border recruitment and currently has a presence across more than 300 engineering colleges in India.
With global demand for specialised engineers rising, AI-based matching platforms are expected to play a larger role in international hiring from India, as companies increasingly prioritise skills over conventional hiring metrics.
