Galgotias University, Yamanashi Officials Discuss Student Internships and Green Hydrogen Research

Galgotias University has held discussions with officials from Japan’s Yamanashi Prefecture and the University of Yamanashi to strengthen academic collaboration, expand student internship opportunities and advance green hydrogen research.

The meetings took place on the sidelines of the Fuji Hydrogen Summit 2026 in Japan, where the university participated as a strategic partner at the invitation of Yamanashi Prefecture.

The university delegation met Yamanashi Vice Governor Junichi Ishidera and the president of the University of Yamanashi. It also visited a green hydrogen plant and research facilities at the Japanese university to explore opportunities for joint research and student placements.

The engagement follows an August visit to Uttar Pradesh by a delegation of more than 200 Japanese industrialists, business leaders and policymakers led by Yamanashi Governor Kotaro Nagasaki. During that visit, Galgotias University signed a memorandum of understanding with Yamanashi Prefecture and a letter of intent with the University of Yamanashi, covering workforce mobility and green hydrogen research.

According to the university, discussions at the summit included a proposed pathway for student internships in Japan from the first year of study through subsequent years, with potential employment opportunities in manufacturing, information technology, healthcare and hospitality.

The two sides also discussed establishing a Japanese Culture Centre on the Galgotias campus to promote Japanese language learning and cultural exchange, helping prepare students for education and employment opportunities in Japan.

The summit brought together Indian and Japanese government representatives, academic institutions and industry participants to discuss green hydrogen technology, investment, research and skills development.

Galgotias University CEO Dhruv Galgotia said the university would work with its Japanese partners to develop a time-bound plan for implementing the proposed student opportunities
