Cloudflare crosses 10 million developers as AI agents reshape internet

Cloudflare Inc. (NYSE: NET) on Thursday announced that more than 10 million developers are building on its platform, up from 7.4 million in the previous quarter, as artificial intelligence (AI) agents reshape application development and deployment.

The company said its platform has expanded from Workers, its serverless computing platform, into a broader ecosystem covering computing, storage, databases, AI, media, real-time services, observability and developer tools.

Cloudflare said daily requests from AI agents on its network increased by more than 1,700% over the past year. It also said that, for the first time this year, more than half of internet traffic was generated by non-human sources.

Developers are increasingly using products such as Workers AI, Workers KV, AI Gateway, Durable Objects, D1 and R2 to build AI-enabled applications, the company said.

Rita Kozlov, vice-president of product management at Cloudflare, said the company’s computing architecture was designed for efficiency, speed and global scale, making it relevant as developers and AI agents increasingly collaborate to build and operate applications.

Cloudflare said its global network spans more than 340 cities across over 130 countries, connects with 13,888 networks and has 590 terabits per second (Tbps) of external network capacity.

Chief Technology Officer Dane Knecht said the network enables developers to deploy applications globally while maintaining performance, scalability and security.

The company said the growing use of AI agents and increasingly distributed applications is raising demand for infrastructure capable of supporting continuous interactions among users, applications, APIs and automated agents.

Cloudflare’s Workers platform uses isolates rather than traditional virtual machines or containers, an approach the company said helps applications deploy quickly and scale efficiently across its global network.
