NIIMS Hospital Conducts Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Workshop for Healthcare Professionals

The Department of Paediatrics at Noida International Institute of Medical Sciences (NIIMS) Hospital conducted an Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Workshop under the aegis of the National Neonatology Forum (NNF) and the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP).

The one-day workshop trained 24 resident doctors, nursing officers and interns in evidence-based neonatal resuscitation practices. The programme focused on improving clinical decision-making and practical skills required to manage neonatal emergencies at birth.

Participants took part in interactive lectures, skill stations, simulation-based scenarios and practical demonstrations. Structured assessments were also conducted to evaluate their knowledge and proficiency in neonatal resuscitation techniques.

Dr. Avinash Kumar Jha, Assistant Professor, Department of Paediatrics, NIIMS, said structured, hands-on training can help healthcare professionals respond promptly during critical moments after birth and strengthen neonatal care.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Ruchira Maheshwari Gupta, Honorary Secretary General, CIAP, in the presence of Dr. Manisha Jindal, Dean, NIIMS; Dr. (Brig.) Ranjit Ghuliani, Medical Superintendent, NIIMS; and Dr. (Col.) Arun Chaudhary, Associate Dean, NIIMS.

The programme was led by Dr. Amit Modi, Professor and Head, Department of Paediatrics, who served as Organising Chairperson. Dr. Avinash Kumar Jha was the Organising Secretary, while Dr. Brajendra Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Paediatrics, Kalyan Singh Medical College, served as Course Coordinator.

The faculty included Dr. Vimal Kumar, Senior Consultant, Apollo Cradle Hospital, Greater Noida; Dr. Ruchi Rai, Head of Neonatology, PGICH, Noida; and Dr. Sujaya Mukhopadhyay, Associate Professor, Department of Paediatrics, GIMS, Greater Noida.

The workshop covered key principles and practical approaches to neonatal resuscitation, with emphasis on timely intervention and coordinated team response.
