University of Leeds invites applications for MSc in Molecular Medicine

The University of Leeds has invited applications for its MSc in Molecular Medicine programme for the September 2026 intake, offering students an opportunity to specialise in molecular approaches to diagnosing, preventing and treating cancer, chronic, autoimmune and genetic diseases.

The 12-month full-time programme is designed for students seeking careers in academia, industry, clinical services and research. The course focuses on molecular mechanisms of disease, particularly cancer biology and therapy, and combines advanced teaching in molecular biology, immunology, cell biology and chemistry with hands-on research experience.

According to the university, students will undertake an independent research project within a leading institute and gain exposure to scientific techniques and treatment development approaches used in biomedical research and healthcare.

The programme also offers pathways in Disease Mechanisms and Treatments for Cancer Biology and Therapy, enabling students to develop advanced scientific and analytical skills.

Applicants are required to hold a first-class or equivalent undergraduate degree in a relevant subject from a recognised Indian university. English language requirements include Standard XII English scores of 70 per cent or 75 per cent depending on the state board, or an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in each component.

The application deadline for the programme is July 31, 2026, with classes scheduled to begin in September 2026. The tuition fee for the course is £32,000.

The university said Indian students would be eligible for the £6,000 International Masters Regional Scholarship. In addition, up to 500 International Excellence Scholarships offering fee reductions of up to 50 per cent are available for international students.

Students enrolled in the programme will also have access to the university’s Global Industry Programme, a two-week virtual consultancy initiative aimed at providing industry exposure, professional skills and networking opportunities.

Graduates from the programme have gone on to pursue PhD research, academic and healthcare roles, and positions in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors, including research and medical writing roles, the university said.

Applications can be submitted through the university’s official admissions portal.
