LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group, Sofiya NGO launch skilling initiative for PwDs, marginalised groups

The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group, in partnership with Sofiya NGO and the Keshav Suri Foundation, has launched a skilling and employment initiative aimed at improving workforce inclusion for persons with disabilities (PwDs) and economically marginalised communities.

The programme is designed to provide industry-relevant training and facilitate integration into the formal workforce, with a focus on building a skilled talent pipeline in the hospitality sector.

Under the initiative, participants are undergoing hands-on training across operational departments such as front office, housekeeping, linen and tailoring, bakery, food and beverage production, and in-room dining. The training is being conducted in live hotel environments, with placements aligned to individual capabilities and preferences.

The company said the programme also emphasises behavioural training and overall development, with participants showing improvements in confidence, independence and job readiness.

The initiative is being implemented with support from Sofiya NGO’s training centre in Mustafabad, where foundational training and mentorship are being provided. The Keshav Suri Foundation is supporting mobility and advocacy efforts, while the LaLiT team is facilitating workplace exposure and structured training.

Keshav Suri said the initiative aims to translate inclusion into action by providing skills and employment opportunities to underserved communities.

The programme has also led to recommendations for improving accessibility infrastructure, inclusive facilities and transportation support, which stakeholders said are essential for scaling such models across the country.

The partners indicated that successful trainees may be considered for long-term employment opportunities, subject to performance and organisational requirements.
