Galgotias University Hosts National E-Bike Challenge to Promote Green Mobility

Galgotias University hosted the 9th edition of the SIEP E-Bike Challenge from April 3 to 7, bringing together students from across India to develop and test electric mobility solutions.

The national-level event, organised by Imperial Society of Innovative Engineers under its Skill, Innovation and Employability Programme (SIEP), saw participation from over 350 students across 23 teams representing multiple states, according to a statement.

Participants designed and built functional electric bike prototypes, focusing on energy efficiency, performance and real-world usability. The competition aimed to provide hands-on exposure to engineering students while addressing challenges related to sustainable mobility and fuel dependence.

Vinod Gupta, Founder and President of ISIE India, highlighted the role of student-led innovation in tackling energy challenges. Dhruv Galgotia, CEO of Galgotias University, said the initiative aligns with the need for alternative mobility solutions amid global energy uncertainties.

The inaugural session was attended by officials including Sushil Kumar Agarwal from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Rajiv E from the Automobile Centre of Excellence, Ajay Shrivastav of Anexion Transformation, and Nitin Khindria of Omega Seiki Mobility.

Students from institutions such as DIT University, Dr D Y Patil Institute of Technology and RV College of Engineering participated in the challenge.

The event included real-time testing of electric bikes on campus, with organisers stating that it supports skill development and innovation in clean transportation technologies.
