Workday, Inc. has announced two major developments aimed at expanding its AI ecosystem — the launch of a global developer network and a new partnership with Google BigQuery through the Workday Data Cloud. The announcements were made at Workday Rising EMEA.
The new Workday Global Developer Network will open access to Workday’s AI tools, learning paths, and hands-on training to a wider community. Through the “Learn with Workday” program, developers will be able to build AI-powered extensions and agents using Workday Build. Participants completing the program will earn a Workday Pro Developer Certification and may be featured in the Workday Talent Directory, connecting them with companies seeking Workday-skilled talent.
Workday is collaborating with global universities—including Chennai Institute of Technology and KL University—and staffing partners such as Consultnet, Helios Consulting, and Randstad Digital to offer structured training and certifications.
In a second major announcement, Google Cloud has joined Workday Data Cloud, enabling customers to access Workday HR and finance data directly in BigQuery and BigLake with secure, zero-copy integration. The partnership is expected to simplify predictive modelling and expand how businesses use Workday data for AI-driven insights.
Google becomes the latest addition to Workday’s ecosystem of data partners, alongside Databricks, Salesforce, and Snowflake.
Workday also confirmed its planned acquisition of Pipedream, an integration platform offering more than 3,000 pre-built connectors. The move aims to strengthen Workday’s open ecosystem and support customers building end-to-end AI agent workflows across enterprise systems.
The global developer network will go live in early 2026, while Workday Data Cloud for early adopters is expected in the first half of 2026.
