Zuperia Auto Pvt. Ltd., formerly Lohia Auto Industries, is accelerating its expansion into the electric cargo and garbage vehicle segments as India’s commercial EV sector continues to grow rapidly. The company has restructured its brand portfolio, introducing the ‘Youdha’ brand for institutional buyers while retaining ‘Lohia’ for premium offerings.
With electric three-wheeler (e3W) sales reaching 694,466 units in 2024—an 18% year-over-year rise—and the cargo sub-segment surging by 45%, Zuperia is aligning its strategy with market trends. The company has successfully deployed garbage collection EVs in Delhi-NCR, Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh and recently secured an order for 40 electric garbage vehicles from DSIIDC for Bawana Industrial Area.
“The real opportunity in the EV space lies beyond the personal mobility segment,” said Ayush Lohia, CEO, Zuperia Auto. “With rising restrictions on diesel vehicles and pressure on municipalities to adopt clean mobility solutions, cargo and garbage EVs are emerging as key growth areas.”
To meet demand, Zuperia is ramping up production at its Kashipur facility and preparing to launch new electric loaders and cargo EVs under the Youdha brand. Supported by government policies and the cost-efficiency of electric vehicles, the cargo and utility EV market is expected to exceed 1.5 lakh units in the next 4–5 years.
