Superhealth launches ‘Superbirth’ maternity programme in Bengaluru

Superhealth, a zero wait-time, zero-commission hospital network, on Tuesday announced the launch of Superbirth, an end-to-end maternity and birthing programme aimed at providing a safer and more transparent childbirth experience for women.

The company said the programme seeks to address rising caesarean section rates in private hospitals by enabling informed choice for women while ensuring access to advanced medical care when required. Citing an IIT Madras study, Superhealth noted that C-section rates in private hospitals in India have reached nearly 50 percent, significantly higher than the World Health Organization’s recommended range of 10–15 percent.

Superbirth supports women from early pregnancy through the first year after delivery and is structured across three phases — prenatal care, labour and hospital care, and postpartum and paediatric care. The programme includes prenatal health checks, genetic screening, fetal assessments and evidence-based birth preparation, including Lamaze techniques, supported by a dedicated birth coach.

During labour and delivery, Superbirth provides continuous monitoring, support for vaginal birth and access to caesarean delivery when medically required or chosen by the patient. Care is delivered through Superhealth’s multispecialty hospital infrastructure, with access to emergency services, operating theatres and on-call specialists.

Post-delivery support includes maternal recovery, mental health services, lactation counselling, vaccinations and paediatric care for the child up to one year.

The programme is delivered by a multidisciplinary team comprising birth coaches, midwives, nutritionists, fitness specialists and senior obstetricians. Superhealth said there is no additional charge if a caesarean section is required at any stage.
