SIAM Hosts 3rd International Conference on Sustainable Circularity at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) organized the 3rd International Conference on Sustainable Circularity (ICSC) at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, during the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. With the theme “Nature Positive Recycling – Systemic Transformation to Automotive Circular Economy in India”, the event emphasized advancing sustainable practices in the Indian automotive sector through regulatory frameworks, technological innovation, and collaboration among stakeholders.

Union Minister Bhupender Yadav, Chief Guest at the inaugural session, unveiled the SIAM Strategy Paper, “Towards Circular Future in the Indian Automobile Industry: Integrating EPR Regime in Waste Stream Regulations”. He highlighted initiatives like the Vehicle Scrappage Policy 2021 and the promotion of electric vehicles as steps towards fostering a circular economy, creating green jobs, and reducing emissions.

The conference featured discussions on End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) recycling, addressing themes like Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), regulatory challenges, and technological advancements. A handbook titled “Automotive Circularity in India: Unlocking a Sustainable Future”, co-created by SIAM and Recykal, was launched. The handbook offers practical insights and a roadmap for transitioning India’s mobility sector from linear to circular models.

Prominent speakers included industry leaders, policymakers, and global experts such as Rajendra M Petkar (Tata Motors), Sosho Kitajima (JARA), Vinod Babu (CPCB), and Masaru Akaishi (Maruti Suzuki Toyotsu India). Their discussions focused on addressing challenges and opportunities in implementing sustainable circularity practices in the automotive sector.

The event underscored India’s potential to lead global efforts in sustainable automotive practices and set the stage for a greener, circular future.
