PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates SEMICON® India 2025, Showcases Bharat’s Semiconductor Vision

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated SEMICON® India 2025 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, marking a defining moment in India’s semiconductor journey. Addressing delegates from 48 countries, the Prime Minister declared, “The World trusts India, the World believes in India and the World is ready to build the Semiconductor Future with India.”

The three-day flagship event (September 2–4) opened to an unprecedented response with 20,000+ registrations, 50+ global CXOs, and 1,275 booths, making it the country’s largest semiconductor and electronics exhibition. PM Modi highlighted India’s growing role in global innovation, stating, “Oil was Black Gold, but Chips are Digital Diamonds.”

Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw presented the first made-in-India semiconductor chip (CG SEMI) to PM Modi, along with 20 student-designed chips manufactured at SCL Mohali. He emphasized the rapid progress in India’s design and talent-building ecosystem.

Ajit Manocha, President and CEO of SEMI, said India’s growth mirrors “Modi’s Law,” a vision of replicating Moore’s Law for exponential semiconductor expansion. Meanwhile, Ashok Chandak, President of SEMI India and IESA, announced the signing of 12 MoUs to strengthen domestic manufacturing, R&D, and global collaboration.

The event also saw the launch of the India Deep Tech Investment Alliance (IDTA), pledging US $1 billion to boost entrepreneurship in priority technology sectors.

With its theme “Building the Next Semiconductor Powerhouse”, SEMICON India 2025 has positioned Bharat at the center of the global semiconductor landscape, drawing industry leaders from companies such as Applied Materials, ASML, IBM, Infineon, Micron, Siemens, SK Hynix, Tata Electronics, and Tokyo Electron.
