Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accompanied by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, visited exhibitors at SEMICON India 2025 on the second day of the three-day event, underscoring India’s rising influence in the global semiconductor industry.
During his visit, the Prime Minister inaugurated the ‘Startup Mitra Pavilion’, an initiative by IESA’s Startup Mitra program aimed at empowering startups in the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector. The pavilion offered a platform for young innovators to connect with industry leaders, venture capitalists, and global OEMs, while showcasing India’s vibrant semiconductor innovation ecosystem.
Ashok Chandak, CEO & President of SEMI India and IESA, said, “Startup Mitra provides structured mentorship, policy guidance, IPR support, and investor connections, while also equipping startups with tools, components, and testing support from member companies. This initiative, aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision, ensures that startups can transform project ideas into impactful technological breakthroughs.”
PM Modi interacted with several startup founders, including Vrinda Kapoor (3rd iTech), Pratap Narayan Singh (Vervesemi Microelectronics), Gautam Kumar Singh (Fermionic Design), Anantha Kinnal (Calligo Technologies), and Jyothis Indirabhai (Netrasemi). He showed keen interest in demonstrations related to strategic warfare technologies and a high-performance computing chip capable of saving nearly 80% in power consumption, emphasizing his commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
The Prime Minister also toured the booths of global industry leaders such as LAM Research, Micron India, Tokyo Electron Limited, IBM, ASML, Tata Electronics, Applied Materials, and others. Country pavilions from Japan, Singapore, Korea, and Malaysia further highlighted international collaboration in the semiconductor value chain.
With 1,275 booths, participation from 48 countries, 2,500 delegates, 50+ CXOs, and over 20,000 attendees, SEMICON India 2025 has cemented its place as a premier platform for showcasing technology, driving investments, and strengthening India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
