NODWIN Gaming has announced SpaceFest, a large-scale event focused on space, science, innovation and space-inspired pop culture, with support from the Government of Maharashtra.
The announcement was made at a press conference in Mumbai attended by Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Samant, Principal Secretary of the Industries, Investment and Services Department P Anbalagan, MIDC Mumbai CEO Deependra Singh Kushwah, Primus Partners India Co-founder and MD Aarti Harbhajanka and NODWIN Gaming Co-founder and MD Akshat Rathee.
The organisers said the festival will bring together space-tech startups, policymakers, industry representatives, creators, students and space enthusiasts. The initiative is aimed at providing a platform for knowledge-sharing, innovation and engagement around India’s growing space ecosystem.
According to the organisers, the event will include keynote sessions, panel discussions, startup showcases, policy announcements, international partnerships and MoU signings. It will also have zones focused on science fiction, gaming and space-related entertainment, along with workshops, aerospace technology demonstrations, student programmes and investor interactions.
Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Samant said the state would seek to use the initiative to create greater awareness among students and young entrepreneurs about opportunities in the space sector. He also proposed holding the festival in February to allow additional time for ecosystem development and employment opportunities.
P Anbalagan said Maharashtra has a significant presence in aerospace, defence and navigation-related manufacturing and highlighted the need for stronger linkages among startups, research institutions, investors and other stakeholders to support the growth of the space sector.
NODWIN Gaming said Primus Partners India will be the knowledge partner for SpaceFest. A school outreach programme and a college-level innovation challenge are also planned ahead of the main event.
The inaugural edition is scheduled to be held at the Nehru Science Centre in Mumbai. The Maharashtra government is also planning new permanent exhibits at the venue as part of the initiative.
