
Jatinder Singh Bhalla, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at NIIMS Medical College and Hospital, was honoured with the Senior Achievement Award at the All India Ophthalmological Society Conference (AIOC) 2026 held in Jaipur.
The award recognised Bhalla’s contributions to clinical ophthalmology, academic leadership and training initiatives in the field. It was presented by J.S. Titiyal during the conference organised by the All India Ophthalmological Society.
Bhalla participated in multiple roles at the conference, including as a speaker, judge, panelist, moderator, instructor and co-instructor. He also served as the convenor of Diagnostic Skill Transfer Courses (DSTC), which focus on improving clinical diagnostic capabilities among ophthalmology practitioners.
During the event, Bhalla contributed to several academic sessions on topics including intumescent cataract management, approaches to laser therapy, pathophysiology of optic nerve cupping in glaucoma and neurological conditions, biometry techniques, and surgical approaches to posterior polar cataract.
According to organisers, the sessions highlighted clinical approaches, surgical techniques and evidence-based insights related to complex ophthalmic conditions.
Speaking on the recognition, Bhalla said the award reflected the support of mentors, colleagues and students and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing ophthalmic education and patient care standards.
