Navi Mumbai International Airport Begins International Flights with Abu Dhabi Service

Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) has started its scheduled international flight operations with the launch of a direct Air India Express service to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

The airline will operate the route three times a week from July 15, marking NMIA’s first international destination. The airport began domestic operations on December 25, 2025, and has expanded to international services within 200 days.

According to Adani Airport Holdings Ltd. (AAHL), the launch makes all airports operated by the company internationally connected. The new route is expected to improve travel options for passengers from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region while strengthening links with the UAE.

Air India Express Chairman Nipun Aggarwal said the airline is pleased to begin international operations from Navi Mumbai and described the airport as an important part of its dual-airport strategy for the Mumbai region.

AAHL CEO Arun Bansal said the launch marks a significant milestone for the airport and thanked government agencies, stakeholders and Air India Express for supporting the commencement of international services. He added that the airport will continue to expand its network with more airline partners and destinations.

Since opening, NMIA has connected 46 domestic destinations, handled more than 2.3 million passengers and currently manages around 150 aircraft movements daily.

The inaugural international flight also carried the airport’s first export shipment of perishable goods, marking the beginning of international cargo operations. Airport authorities said additional international routes are planned as NMIA continues to expand its passenger and cargo network.
