Narayana Health Sets Record with 11,786 ECG Screenings for Women in a Single Day

Narayana Health, one of India’s leading healthcare providers, has created a new benchmark in preventive cardiac care by conducting 11,786 free ECG screenings for women across the country in a single day. The initiative, held on September 17, was part of the Government of India’s Swasth Naari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strengthen women and child healthcare services.

With this achievement, Narayana Health broke its own 2023 world record of 3,797 ECGs performed in 24 hours. This year’s campaign focused exclusively on women, highlighting the need for early detection of heart disease, which remains a leading cause of death among Indian women.

Narayana Health City, Bengaluru, emerged as the frontrunner by conducting over 5,500 ECGs in a single day, the highest by any facility. Other major contributors included hospitals in Raipur (791), Kolkata (378), Delhi (620), Gurugram (320), Ahmedabad (694), and Mysore (554), among others, covering both metro cities and tier-II towns

Dr. Devi Shetty, Founder and Chairman of Narayana Health, said, “This milestone is not just about numbers but about thousands of women taking charge of their heart health. Preventive care is the foundation of a healthy nation, and this effort aligns with the government’s vision of Swasth Naari, Sashakt Parivar.”

Group CEO Dr. Emmanuel Rupert added that the record response reflects growing awareness of preventive healthcare across urban and rural India.

According to the Global Burden of Disease Study, cardiovascular disease accounts for nearly 18% of all female deaths in India, more than breast cancer and all other cancers combined. Doctors emphasize that ECG is a simple and effective screening tool for early detection of heart conditions, helping women take timely preventive measures.

With this nationwide effort, Narayana Health has not only broken records but also reinforced the importance of preventive healthcare in saving lives.
