Narayana Health City Pioneers Robotic Spine Surgeries, Restoring Young Lives

Narayana Health City, Bengaluru, a leader in orthopaedics with over 10,000 successful surgeries, has set new benchmarks in spine care with three highly complex procedures performed using advanced robotics and imaging technologies.

The hospital deployed Spine Robot technology, O-arm intraoperative imaging, spinal navigation, and neuromonitoring to deliver precision-guided surgeries with remarkable outcomes.

Among the cases was 14-year-old Usha H.M., who was battling advanced spinal tuberculosis that left her immobile. Under the leadership of Dr. Vinu Raj, the team restored her spinal alignment, enabling her to regain mobility. “Helping Usha regain her strength reflects the power of combining cutting-edge technology with patient determination,” said Dr. Raj.

In another case, 17-year-old Sajiya Aiman, suffering from severe scoliosis, underwent a complex correction from D10 to L5. Led by Prof. Arun Ranganathan with support from Dr. Raj and Dr. Shashidhar B.K., the robotic-assisted procedure improved her posture, mobility, and quality of life.

The third case involved 34-year-old Venkoba, diagnosed with a rare Brucella infection affecting his spinal discs. Advanced spinal navigation enabled successful decompression and stabilization, freeing him from chronic back pain.

“These success stories highlight how robotics, navigation, O-arm imaging, and neuromonitoring are revolutionizing spine surgery in India,” said Prof. Ranganathan. “The goal is not just surgery but restoring independence and hope.”

With these breakthroughs, Narayana Health City is redefining complex spine care and giving patients a renewed chance at life.
