Narayana Health City Performs Karnataka’s First TAVI Using Next-Gen Edwards S3 Ultra Resilia Valve

In a landmark medical milestone, Narayana Health City, Bengaluru, has successfully performed Karnataka’s first Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) using the latest Edwards S3 Ultra Resilia Valve, marking a major advancement in minimally invasive cardiac care.

The patient, a 71-year-old suffering from severe aortic stenosis, was at high risk for conventional open-heart surgery. The cardiac team opted for a minimally invasive TAVI procedure, also using a cerebral protection device to prevent stroke during surgery. The procedure was successful, and the patient was discharged without complications.

The Edwards S3 Ultra Resilia Valve represents the latest generation in heart valve technology, offering over 15 years of durability, enhanced sealing to minimize leakage, and advanced anti-calcification and dry tissue technology for improved safety and longevity.

Dr. Suraj Narasimhan A, Consultant Cardiologist and Structural Intervention Specialist at Narayana Health City, who led the procedure, said, “The Edwards S3 Ultra Resilia Valve is a game-changer. Its long durability, reduced leakage, and resistance to calcification offer patients a reliable, lasting solution. Performing Karnataka’s first case is a proud moment for us.”

This was only the second such procedure in India, further cementing Narayana Health City’s reputation as a leader in advanced, patient-centric cardiac interventions.
