Narayana Health City Performs Karnataka’s First TAVI Procedure with New-Generation Allegra Device

Narayana Health City, Bengaluru, has achieved a medical milestone by successfully performing Karnataka’s first Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) using the advanced Allegra TAVI system. This marks a significant step in cardiac care, offering a minimally invasive treatment option for patients with aortic valve disease.

The procedure was led by Dr. Suraj Narasimhan A, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and Structural Interventional Specialist, along with his expert team. The Allegra TAVI device, a novel self-expanding valve, is designed to address challenges faced by traditional TAVI valves, particularly for patients with small annulus and those requiring valve-in-valve procedures. Given its design and effectiveness, this technology is particularly suited to the Indian patient demographic.

TAVI is emerging as a preferred alternative to open-heart surgery, especially for elderly patients with severe aortic stenosis, reducing recovery time and improving overall patient outcomes.

“We are proud to be the first in Karnataka to introduce this next-generation TAVI procedure, reinforcing our commitment to innovative cardiac care,” said Dr. Suraj Narasimhan.

This landmark achievement positions Narayana Health City at the forefront of advanced cardiac interventions, providing patients with access to cutting-edge treatment options.
