Nagaland Chief Minister Receives Air India Express’ Tsüngkotepsü Livery Aircraft Ahead of Hornbill Festival 2025

Airline announces 15% discount for travel to Dimapur during the festival period

Air India Express marked the beginning of its partnership as the Official Travel Partner of the Hornbill Festival 2025 with the arrival of its newly inducted Boeing 737-8 aircraft in Dimapur, featuring a special livery inspired by the Tsüngkotepsü warrior shawl—an iconic symbol of the Ao tribe and Nagaland’s cultural identity. The aircraft was received by Nagaland Chief Minister Shri Neiphiu Rio at Dimapur Airport on 22 November.

The ceremony featured traditional dancers and cultural performances, reflecting the essence of the Hornbill Festival, which will take place from December 1 to 10 at the Kisama Heritage Village. Recognised as one of India’s biggest cultural events, the festival attracts visitors from across India and abroad.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Neiphiu Rio said, “The Tsüngkotepsü livery is a meaningful gesture that honours the traditions of the Ao tribe and carries a part of Nagaland’s story across India. This partnership strengthens our efforts to welcome more visitors and deepen cultural understanding.”

Aloke Singh, Managing Director, Air India Express, added, “The spirit of the Hornbill Festival aligns with our brand ethos and our Tales of India initiative. The Tsüngkotepsü-inspired livery on our new aircraft is our tribute to Nagaland’s artistic heritage.”

To support tourism, Air India Express announced a 15% discount on bookings to and from Dimapur made until December 10, valid for travel until December 15, using the promo code HORNBILL.

The airline has also created a Hornbill-themed experience at Dimapur Airport, including a photobooth and community art canvas at the Kisama festival venue. Travellers can participate in a special social media contest to win free flights by sharing photos taken at these installations.

Air India Express operates daily flights connecting Dimapur to Guwahati, with onward connections to major cities including Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, and Patna, strengthening connectivity across the Northeast.
