India’s legal-tech space is witnessing increased adoption as users turn to digital platforms for legal advice, with Delhi-based platform VakeelSaab onboarding over 2,000 verified lawyers within months of its launch, the company said.
India has more than two million advocates enrolled with state bar councils regulated by the Bar Council of India. However, access to legal counsel continues to rely heavily on informal networks and referrals.
Launched in November 2025, VakeelSaab said it has facilitated over 8,000 consultations across areas such as property disputes, matrimonial issues, corporate advisory, and civil litigation. The company noted that a significant share of queries relates to property and family matters, indicating a growing inclination among individuals and businesses to seek preliminary legal advice online.
Founded by lawyer Monica Lakhanpal, the platform allows users to consult lawyers anonymously at the initial stage, aimed at addressing concerns around confidentiality and ease of access. Users can also seek second opinions and compare legal strategies before formally engaging a lawyer.
The company said all listed lawyers undergo a verification process, including credential checks with bar councils and review of professional records.
“Many people struggle with the first step of resolving a legal issue—finding a lawyer they can trust. The platform is designed to make that process more structured and accessible,” Lakhanpal said.
VakeelSaab plans to expand its lawyer network across additional markets and is preparing to launch a mobile application to enable secure payments and real-time case updates, it added.
