K J Somaiya Institute of Technology Concludes 6-Day Faculty Development Programme on Cybersecurity

K J Somaiya Institute of Technology (KJSIT), Mumbai, successfully concluded a six-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Fortifying the Digital Frontier: Cybersecurity Strategies for Threat Landscapes”. Funded by the AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy, the offline programme was organized by the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.

Held at the KJSIT campus, the initiative drew participation from over 50 faculty members and researchers across AICTE-approved institutions. Sessions featured expert lectures, live demonstrations, case studies, and hands-on workshops focused on key areas like network security, penetration testing, cybercrime investigation, and emerging threats.

The programme was inaugurated by Major Krishan V. (Retd), who delivered a keynote on the national importance of cybersecurity and institutional preparedness. Emphasizing the vulnerability of academic institutions, he urged educators to recognize their role in securing digital assets and shaping cyber-aware students.

A major highlight of the FDP was an industrial visit to a leading cybersecurity and fintech firm, where participants observed real-time operations at a Security Operations Centre (SOC), gaining valuable insight into enterprise-level security practices.

Dr. Vivek Sunnapwar, Principal, KJSIT, noted, “Cybersecurity isn’t just an industry concern—it’s an academic responsibility. Faculty trained in this domain are key to developing India’s next generation of digital defenders.”

The programme underscored KJSIT’s commitment to future-ready education and bridging academia-industry gaps in the cybersecurity space.
