K J Somaiya Institute Hosts ICETS 2025, Showcases Innovations for Sustainable Development

K J Somaiya Institute of Technology, Mumbai, successfully hosted the International Conference on Emerging Technologies for Sustainable Development (ICETS 2025), supported by the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE). The event was inaugurated by Dr. Dilip Shivagan, Senior Principal Scientist at CSIR-NPL, alongside Prof. V N Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice Chancellor, Somaiya Vidyavihar University, and senior academic leadership.

The two-day conference featured impactful keynote speeches and panel discussions aimed at guiding future research and innovation. Dr. Shivagan’s plenary talk on Quantum Metrology for Sustainable Development emphasized advanced measurement science for climate resilience.

Panel discussions included “Technology, Research, and Policy for India’s Climate Action,” featuring experts from IMD, Vasantdada Sugar Institute, IITM Pune, and the media, and “India in Orbit: Innovation and Global Space Leadership by 2040,” highlighting future directions in space technology and entrepreneurship.

Participants presented papers under four tracks: Climate Action, Sustainable Healthcare, Agriculture & Food Security, and Space Innovations. Eminent speakers from Tata Technologies, NETSCOUT, and IMD Pune shared insights into AI, climate services, and sustainability frameworks.

A key highlight was the installation of a disdrometer—a cutting-edge meteorological device—by IITM Pune for regional climate monitoring, inaugurated during the conference.

Organized by Dr. Radhika Kotecha and Dr. Umesh Shinde, ICETS 2025 reinforced the institute’s commitment to research-driven sustainable development.
