The India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) and SEMI extended heartfelt wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 75th birthday, recognizing his transformative role in positioning India as a global force in the semiconductor and electronics sector.
Under his leadership, India has created a robust ecosystem for design and manufacturing, spearheaded by the India Semiconductor Mission (₹76,000 crore) and the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme. These initiatives have driven investments worth ₹1.60 lakh crore, resulting in fab plants, ATMP/OSAT units, and state-backed policies that are shaping India’s semiconductor future.
At the recent Semicon India 2025, PM Modi highlighted India’s shift from resource-dependence to digital innovation, famously stating: “Oil was black gold, but chips are digital diamonds.” His interaction with global CXOs further strengthened India’s position as a strategic hub in the world technology landscape.
India’s ambitions to become a “full-stack semiconductor nation” are fast materializing, with chip design facilities, the 32-bit VIKRAM processor, and the imminent launch of the first “Made in India” commercial chip.
Ashok Chandak, CEO & President of SEMI India and IESA, noted: “IESA and SEMI are proud partners in this mission. With $20 billion committed by member companies and initiatives like ChipIN, Start-Up Mitra, and the $1 billion Deep Tech Venture Fund, we are building a future-ready ecosystem.”
The foundation for India’s semiconductor revolution has been firmly laid. On this special day, industry leaders hailed PM Modi as the “architect of India’s digital future.”
