Eraaya Lifespaces Leads ₹140 Cr Transit Digitisation Deal with MSRTC

Eraaya Lifespaces’ Indian subsidiary, Ebix Technologies Limited (formerly EbixCash), has secured a landmark ₹140 crore contract with the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) to implement India’s first statewide rollout of the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) for concessionaires.

Aligned with the Government of India’s “One Nation, One Card” initiative, the project aims to enable seamless, cashless travel for millions of daily commuters across MSRTC’s vast network. This marks a major step in digitising public transport in India.

Ebix Technologies, which earlier supplied over 38,000 Android-based electronic ticketing machines (ETMs) for MSRTC, has already enabled the issuance of nearly 220 crore passenger tickets in the last two years. This new project expands the scope to offer smart, interoperable NCMC cards, targeting over 70 lakh cards in the first year and 2 crore cards statewide through 3,000 retail outlets.

Key features include:

  • Mandatory NCMC cards for concessional passengers.
  • Aadhaar and API-based verification for secure subsidy validation.
  • Multiple top-up options (physical and online).
  • Expected ₹2000+ crore annual transaction volumes.

Ebix and MSRTC aim to create a scalable, replicable model for integrated urban mobility, enhancing subsidy transparency, reducing fraud, and improving the passenger experience.

“This partnership is more than a payment upgrade—it’s a complete reimagining of how citizens travel,” said a spokesperson from Ebix.

Backed by Eraaya Lifespaces’ dynamic leadership and its recent acquisition of Ebix Inc. USA, the group is poised to further expand its footprint in smart mobility and digital payments across India.
