Dürr has expanded its dispensing technology portfolio with the EcoMeter XS, a compact unit designed to automatically dispense small quantities of adhesives, sealants and other high-viscosity materials.
The system is aimed primarily at manufacturers of batteries, electronic components and electric motors. Applications include battery assembly, power electronics, magnet bonding in electric motors, grease and seal applications, and small-volume potting.
According to Dürr, the EcoMeter XS is designed for applications requiring quantities smaller than those handled by its existing EcoShot Meter dispensing systems. One example is the spot application used in round battery cells to establish thermal contact between the cell and its cooling unit.
The system supports flow rates ranging from 0.00005 cubic centimetres per second to 1 cubic centimetre per second. Its continuous material flow is designed to avoid refilling interruptions associated with conventional piston dosing systems.
Depending on configuration, the unit weighs between 0.8 kg and 1.6 kg and can be installed on axis gantries, robotic systems and robots with lower payload capacities.
Dürr said the modular design allows configurations to be adapted for different material viscosities, application quantities and component geometries.
The EcoMeter XS joins the company’s EcoShot Meter and EcoMeter SP systems, covering automated dispensing applications for 1K and 2K adhesives and sealants across different volume ranges.
