Cloudflare, Inc. (NYSE: NET), the leading connectivity cloud company, has announced a bold new initiative to hire 1,111 interns in 2026 as part of its mission to invest in the next generation of Internet builders. The move comes at a time when AI is reshaping jobs and reducing entry-level opportunities, making hands-on training more important than ever.
The number 1,111 is a nod to Cloudflare’s public DNS resolver, 1.1.1.1. Through its “Intern-et” program, the company will offer students real-world experience by working on projects that directly impact millions of Internet users—ranging from network security to serverless application development. Interns will be placed across Cloudflare’s global hubs, including Bengaluru, Austin, San Francisco, New York, Lisbon, and London.
Cloudflare is also introducing initiatives to support students and startups:
- Free developer tools for students: One year of complimentary access to Cloudflare Workers will be available to U.S. university students with a valid .edu email.
- Startup collaboration spaces: Beginning January 2026, approved startups can use Cloudflare offices in key hubs for in-person collaboration.
- Startup ecosystem support: Cloudflare has already provided over $370 million in credits to 4,000+ startups, with more than 900 of them collectively raising over $5 billion in funding.
“We’re leaning in when getting a job out of school has never been harder,” said Matthew Prince, co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare. “Instead of replacing jobs with AI, we want this next generation to help us discover the best ways to use it.”
