Cloudflare, Inc. (NYSE: NET), a global leader in cloud connectivity, has acquired Outerbase, a developer-focused database platform, to significantly improve the experience of building full-stack, AI-powered applications on the Cloudflare Developer Platform.
The integration of Outerbase, which is already built on Cloudflare Workers, will simplify database development, enabling more developers—regardless of experience—to build scalable, data-driven applications. The acquisition supports Cloudflare’s broader vision of accelerating the development of intelligent AI agents and applications that require context, conversation history, and data-driven decision-making.
“As AI adoption grows, we’re making it easier for developers to build the next generation of smart applications,” said Matthew Prince, Co-Founder and CEO of Cloudflare. “Outerbase’s technology and UI expertise will be key to achieving that.”
The acquisition will embed Outerbase’s tools directly into Cloudflare’s D1, Durable Objects, and Agents SDK, offering intuitive interfaces for data management without deep SQL knowledge.
“Joining Cloudflare allows us to bring our mission to a global scale,” said Brandon Strittmatter, Co-Founder and CEO of Outerbase. “We’re thrilled to now be part of a platform that will define the future of developer tools and AI applications.”
This move further strengthens Cloudflare’s position as a go-to platform for developers building intelligent, contextual apps in a rapidly evolving AI landscape.
