Bridging Cultures and Boosting Tourism: Udaipur Tales Goes Global in 2025

The Udaipur Tales International Storytelling Festival, scheduled for January 10-12, 2025, is set to transform Rajasthan’s City of Lakes into a global storytelling hub. Featuring storytellers from South Africa, Russia, Spain, Sri Lanka, and Singapore alongside renowned Indian artists, the festival offers a truly international narrative experience.

Indian highlights include Divy Nidhi Sharma, celebrated for his work on the Oscar-nominated Laapataa Ladies (2023), and Fouzia, India’s first female Dastango, who revives the traditional art of Urdu storytelling. Their performances, steeped in cultural heritage, underline the festival’s commitment to preserving and promoting India’s oral traditions.

Global storytellers bring a rich mix of tales, from South African folk narratives and Russian epics to Spanish legends and Sri Lankan myths, creating a vibrant cultural exchange. This global participation promises to bridge cultures through shared human emotions.

The festival introduces innovative experiences like food storytelling, where narratives from Rajasthan’s royal kitchens and India’s iconic dishes are paired with their historical and cultural contexts. A Festival Village showcasing local craftsmanship, live music, and culinary heritage adds to the immersive experience.

Tourism officials anticipate a significant boost in international footfall, positioning Rajasthan as a key destination for cultural and experiential tourism. By blending global and Indian traditions, Udaipur Tales fosters connections that transcend borders, establishing the state as a global cultural hub.

For three days, Udaipur will celebrate the timeless art of storytelling, creating unforgettable experiences for audiences and travelers alike.
