BPL Medical Technologies and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, have formalised the technology transfer of an AI-powered mammography technology, with BPL set to further develop and integrate the technology into mammography equipment.
The collaboration combines AIIMS Delhi’s research expertise with BPL’s medical equipment development and manufacturing capabilities. The partners will focus on advancing the technology for clinical applications and expanding access to AI-enabled breast imaging, including in Tier-2 and Tier-3 regions.
The technology transfer ceremony was attended by Prof. Nikhil Tandon, Director, AIIMS New Delhi, and Mr. Ajay Jindal, CFO, BPL Medical Technologies, along with senior officials and faculty members from both organisations.
Ajay Jindal said the collaboration aims to adapt the AI technology for mammography equipment and make it accessible in remote areas, while supporting radiologists and clinical workflows.
Dr. Nikhil Tandon said the transfer demonstrates how research developed within academic institutions can be translated into healthcare applications and expressed hope that it would encourage further innovation and technology development at AIIMS.
BPL Medical Technologies will now focus on further developing the mammography AI technology and working towards its integration with mammography equipment.
