Boccia Sports Federation of India Hosts State-Level Awareness and Training Camp in Hyderabad

The Boccia Sports Federation of India (BSFI), in collaboration with the Para Telangana Boccia Association and the SBI Foundation, successfully organized the Boccia State-Level Awareness and Training Camp 2025 at Hotel Katriya, Hyderabad. The event brought together over 20 wheelchair-bound athletes and their families, offering expert training in the Paralympic sport of Boccia while highlighting its role in rehabilitation, mental well-being, and community integration.

Hon’ble Justice Shri N. Tukaramji, Judge, High Court of Telangana, praised the initiative, emphasizing the importance of inclusive sports in fostering confidence and dignity among individuals with disabilities. Additional Director General of Police, Telangana, Sh. Anil Kumar IPS, also commended the athletes for their resilience, stating that Boccia serves as more than a sport—it is a movement that challenges societal perceptions and promotes empowerment.

Dr. Vikas Bhatia, Executive Director of AIIMS Bibinagar, underlined the health benefits of adaptive sports, noting how Boccia enhances motor skills, builds confidence, and fosters social inclusion.

The event was attended by key stakeholders, including BSFI President Sh. Jaspreet Singh Dhaliwal, BSFI Secretary General Sh. Shaminder Singh Dhillon, and Senior Scientist at ICMR HQ New Delhi, Dr. Ravinder Singh. Sh. Jaspreet Singh Dhaliwal reiterated BSFI’s long-term vision to develop Boccia as a mainstream adaptive sport in India, aiming to nurture talent and create a strong pipeline of future Paralympians.

With the success of this camp, BSFI plans to expand similar initiatives across the country, ensuring accessibility and competitive opportunities for aspiring Boccia athletes. The event concluded as a celebration of resilience, inclusivity, and the transformative power of sports.
