Air India Express, renowned for pioneering international connectivity from Surat, has launched operations to its 50th destination—Bangkok. This milestone comes with the inaugural flight departing Surat today at 09:35 IST, marking the airline’s expansion into Southeast Asia with direct connectivity to Thailand’s vibrant capital.
The inaugural flight, carrying 175 passengers, landed at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok at 15:35 local time. Celebratory events were held both at Surat International Airport and in Bangkok, with dignitaries from the Thai Government, Indian Embassy, airport authorities, and travel industry representatives in attendance.
Expanding its Thailand operations, Air India Express will introduce direct flights to Bangkok from Pune, Amritsar, and Lucknow later this month. These routes, set to begin operations on December 21, 27, and 28, respectively, will offer tri-weekly or four-weekly services.
Flight Schedule to Bangkok (Effective December 2024):
- Surat: Four weekly flights (Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun)
- Pune: Tri-weekly flights (Tue, Thu, Sat)
- Amritsar: Four weekly flights (Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun)
- Lucknow: Tri-weekly flights (Tue, Thu, Sat)
Travelers from Surat can also explore Air India Express’s ‘Xpress Holidays,’ offering curated holiday packages with accommodation, transport, and activities via the airline’s website.
Air India Express currently operates 40 weekly flights from Surat, connecting to seven domestic and international destinations, with seamless one-stop connectivity to an additional 22 cities in India and five overseas.
This new route further strengthens Surat’s position as a hub for international travel while enhancing Air India Express’s footprint in Southeast Asia.
