Air India Express has introduced new uniforms for its cabin crew and frontline employees across its network, with the rollout beginning September 1.
The new uniforms have been introduced for cabin crew, airport services, aviation security and flight operations teams as part of the airline’s ongoing efforts to refresh its brand identity and guest experience.
The designs draw inspiration from traditional Indian textiles and crafts, including Tamil Nadu’s Kanjeevaram, Himachal Pradesh’s Pattu, Gujarat’s Patola, Assam’s Gamosa and Madhya Pradesh’s Bagh. The uniforms combine contemporary silhouettes inspired by the traditional kurti with tailored jackets, scarves and pocket squares.
The new designs also extend the airline’s ‘Tales of India’ initiative, which features aircraft tail designs inspired by indigenous Indian art forms, crafts and cultural heritage.
The uniforms use Air India Express’ Xpress Blue and Xpress Orange colour palette to maintain a consistent visual identity across aircraft, airports and other customer touchpoints.
According to the airline, the uniforms have been designed with operational requirements in mind, using banana crepe fabric intended to provide breathability, durability and ease of movement.
The female cabin crew, airport services, aviation security and flight operations uniforms were designed in-house by Air India Express designer Pooja Krishnan. The men’s cabin crew uniform was developed in collaboration with Trent Limited.
Sunil Suresh, Head, Marketing, E-Commerce & Loyalty, Air India group, said the uniforms were designed to combine comfort and functionality with elements reflecting India’s cultural heritage.
Air India Express currently operates more than 500 daily flights connecting 48 domestic and 16 international destinations, with a fleet of over 100 Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 aircraft, according to the airline.
