Air India Enhances Metro-to-Metro Connectivity with Premium Narrowbody Cabins

Air India, following its merger with Vistara, has announced a revamped domestic route network prioritizing premium cabin services on five key metro-to-metro routes. Starting 01 December 2024, all flights between Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Bengaluru, Delhi-Hyderabad, Mumbai-Bengaluru, and Mumbai-Hyderabad will operate with erstwhile Vistara A320neo aircraft, featuring Business, Premium Economy, and Economy Class.

The routes will be serviced with four-digit flight numbers starting with ‘2’, such as AI2999. Optimized schedules ensure evenly distributed departures throughout the day, offering customers flexibility and convenience. With over 1,000 weekly flights on these routes, Air India offers 56 daily flights between Delhi-Mumbai, 36 on Delhi-Bengaluru, and similar frequencies on others.

Campbell Wilson, CEO & Managing Director of Air India, stated, “The merger has allowed us to enhance our offerings on high-demand routes. By leveraging the strengths of both airlines, we’re delivering a superior product. More routes will be upgraded as we induct new aircraft and retrofit our existing fleet.”

The A320neo aircraft feature 8 Business Class seats, 24 Premium Economy seats with extra legroom and recline, and 132 Economy seats. Travellers will enjoy award-winning interiors, complimentary meals, and lounge access for premium guests.

The changes are visible across booking platforms, with Air India maintaining select widebody operations on the routes for added capacity.
