Air India has set a milestone as the first Indian airline to introduce in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity on domestic flights. The service, which commenced on 1 January 2025, is available on Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9, and select Airbus A321neo aircraft. Passengers can enjoy complimentary internet access during an introductory period.
This innovation allows travelers to browse, access social media, work, and stay connected while flying. The service supports multiple device connections on Wi-Fi-enabled devices when the aircraft is above 10,000 feet.
“Connectivity is now an essential part of modern travel. We are confident that our guests will value this enhanced experience,” said Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer, Air India.
Air India first piloted in-flight Wi-Fi on select international routes, including flights to New York, London, Paris, and Singapore. The service is now being rolled out across its fleet, with plans to expand further.
Passengers can access Wi-Fi by selecting the ‘Air India Wi-Fi’ network, entering their PNR and last name on the portal, and enjoying complimentary internet access.
This initiative aligns with Air India’s ongoing transformation under its Vihaan.AI program. Following its return to Tata Sons in 2022, the airline has achieved significant milestones, including fleet expansion, mergers, and launching South Asia’s largest aviation training academy.
Air India continues to elevate passenger experiences while preserving its legacy as India’s flagship carrier.
