“AI should empower teachers, not replace them,” emphasized Mr. Ashish Sood, Hon’ble Minister of Home, Power and Education, Delhi Government, at the inaugural session of the International Conference on ‘AI in Education for Viksit Bharat @2047’ held at PHD House, New Delhi. The two-day event was organized by PHDCCI in collaboration with OECD and Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Highlighting Delhi’s tech-forward education initiatives—like AI-powered classrooms, gamified learning, and teacher training in AI—the Minister said, “If we don’t evolve, we risk becoming obsolete like Nokia.” He invoked the Prime Minister’s vision of “double AI” — Artificial Intelligence and Aspirational India.
Mr. Hemant Jain, President, PHDCCI, in his address, said, “Every industrial transformation follows an educational one,” urging the sector to treat AI as a strategic enabler.
CBSE Secretary Mr. Himanshu Gupta echoed this, noting that AI should take over routine tasks so educators can focus on meaningful human connections.
Declaring 2025 as the ‘Year of AI in Education’, AICTE Chairman Prof. T.G. Sitharam emphasized the shift towards student-centric, experiential learning, calling AI a “real and transformative force.”
Dr. Stephan Vincent-Lancrin from OECD praised India’s inclusive, ethical approach to AI in education. Mr. Shreevats Jaipuria, Chair – Education Committee, PHDCCI, noted, “Teachers using AI will empower the next generation.”
The event also featured remarks by Dr. Ranjeet Mehta, CEO, PHDCCI, and Ms. Sonali Jain, who stressed that AI must enhance—never diminish—the human touch in learning.
Supported by Jaipuria Management Institute, Pathways School, and Learning Links Foundation, the conference brought together experts from across the globe to chart India’s AI-driven education future.
