The AEC Forum 2024 opened today in Hyderabad under the theme, “Advancing Resilient and Sustainable Infrastructure.” The event brings together global leaders, policymakers, and industry pioneers to tackle India’s pressing infrastructure challenges through sustainability and innovation.
In his keynote, Sanjay Kumar, CEO of Geospatial World, highlighted the urgency of resilient infrastructure to combat climate-induced disasters. He stressed the importance of integrating technologies like Geospatial, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Digital Twin to revolutionize infrastructure development. “Resilience is not just an option but a necessity,” Kumar stated.
Nirmala Jagga Reddy, Chairman of Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation, showcased state-led initiatives under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy Garu. She emphasized balancing economic progress with environmental sustainability to protect natural resources for future generations.
David Tan, Assistant CEO of JTC Corporation, Singapore, shared insights on harnessing technology, including LiDAR for construction monitoring, Open Digital Platforms for tool integration, and AI-powered efficiency enhancements in infrastructure projects.
Eric DesRoche, Director at Autodesk, spotlighted the future of BIM, emphasizing AI’s role in improving design processes while cautioning against over-reliance.
Saurabh Rai, CEO of Arahas Technologies, urged the AEC sector to lead the charge toward sustainability. “Climate change demands bold, immediate action. India must embrace renewable energy, green materials, and sustainable urban planning to become the birthplace of net-zero cities,” he said.
The forum sets a visionary tone for transforming India’s infrastructure landscape through collaboration, innovation, and sustainability.
