Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) has inaugurated its Centre of Excellence on AI, strengthening its focus on artificial intelligence, experiential learning, innovation and technology-driven education.
The inauguration brought together more than 400 participants, primarily students and faculty members, under the theme “Learn. Build. Deploy. Innovate.”
The event was attended by advisory board members Neeraj Gehani, Global Product Director, Dunnhumby; Varoon Govil, Executive Director, MSCI Inc.; and Dr Saumendra Mohanty, Consultant, ValueFirst, a Tanla company.
As part of the programme, participants underwent training covering AI fundamentals, the generative AI ecosystem, Google AI Studio, Google Antigravity, Google Cloud credits and resources, as well as live project development and deployment.
The programme included hands-on activities and project development exercises aimed at giving participants practical exposure to AI tools and development workflows. Participants also worked on problem areas including MedTech, FinTech, EdTech and open innovation.
During the programme, teams developed AI-powered applications, automation tools and prototypes addressing practical challenges. The projects included solutions related to personalised stock and mutual fund management as well as personal health and care.
Dr Prabina Rajib, Director, BIMTECH, said the Centre of Excellence on AI is intended to strengthen technology-driven and experiential learning and help students and the wider academic community develop capabilities relevant to an increasingly AI-driven environment.
The event also featured demonstrations of the projects developed by participants. Teams were evaluated on innovation, impact, technical execution and overall quality of their solutions.
Wroom Wroom, comprising Kartik Saxena, Kritika Digari, Kumari Shachi and Bhavna Mittal, secured the first position. LOSER CORE, represented by Bhavya Rawat, secured the second position, while CARPIEDEM, comprising Sakshi Jaiswal, Ruchi Yadav, Rishita Agarwal and Ranjan Kumar Singh, finished third.
The top-performing teams received cash prizes and other recognition, while participating students and participants were awarded certificates.
BIMTECH said the Centre of Excellence will support its focus on experiential learning through industry collaborations, workshops, hackathons, research and student-led projects.
